Singapore is a one-stop family holiday destination not just for its child-friendly attractions, but also its pleasant surroundings. The city is clean and generally safe with excellent public facilities. Here are some of the Lion City’s offerings that will keep children and adults alike engaged through-out their stay.

Exciting Sightseeing Options from Land, Air and Water

Children will enjoy the ride and the views from the Singapore Flyer, the world’s largest observational wheel. Singapore landmarks such as Raffles Place, Collyer Quay, the Fullerton Singapore, Esplanade, Merlion Park, and even Malaysia and Indonesia can be seen from a unique vantage point. To further appreciate their Singapore Flyer experience, visitors can watch an interactive multimedia gallery telling the story of Singapore and observation wheel.

The Singapore Flyer can be booked with a Singapore City Tour, where children can see Singapore’s landmarks this time from the ground. The city tour stops at the Merlion Park, the National Orchid Garden, Chinatown and Little India, for lots of fresh experiences, discussion and family photo opportunities.

To cover all bases, visitors can also discover Singapore from the water through the Captain Explorer Amphibious Vehicle Tour. Children will especially love splashing down to the Kallang River and driving back to the city all in one vehicle. While visiting the War Memorial, parents can point out the Vietnam War origins of the amphibious vehicle itself.

World Class Wildlife Reserves

Some of the world’s best zoos are in Singapore: Jurong Bird Park, Singapore Zoo and Night Safari. These parks are ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 certified, complying with international environmental, health and safety standards. Going beyond animal exhibits, the parks are designated wildlife rescue, breeding and research centers, making them excellent places to teach children about the importance of wildlife conservation.

Jurong Bird Park is the largest bird park in the world, with more than 5,000 birds of more than 380 species. The park is especially designed to resemble the birds’ natural habitats. Children can visit and feed the colorful Lories in the Lory Loft, enter the tropical jungle mists of the African Waterfall Aviary, take a look at the Penguin Coast exhibit and watch the Birds N Buddies Show at the Pools Amphitheatre. If they don’t feel like walking, children can ride the Panorail which shows a panoramic view of the park in an air-conditioned setting.

In Mandai, families can take a morning visit to the Singapore Zoo, a haven to over 3,000 mammals, birds and reptiles, 36% of which are rare and endangered species. Unlike typical zoos, Singapore Zoo operates with an “Open Concept” using natural barriers such as streams, rock walls and vegetation to separate animals from visitors instead of cages.

Singapore Tourism Board’s nine-time Best Leisure Attraction, Singapore’s Night Safari is also the world’s first wildlife park for nocturnal animals. The safari houses numerous night-time species from fierce predators to timid forest dwellers. Children can get acquainted with them in the safety of a tram amidst environments that replicate the Himalayan Foothills, the Southeast Asian Rainforest and the Indian Subcontinent. After the tram ride, families can take a walking trail that lets them see the animals up close.

Activity-Packed Sentosa Island

Sentosa Island brims with attractions that will excite children and adults alike. Here are different ways to enjoy the island.

Take an afternoon off visiting the island. Start with a short scenic cable car ride from Mount Faber and get straight to the Dolphin Lagoon where visitors can watch pink dolphins perform hops, tail flaps and vocalization. Follow up with a voyage to Underwater World, an 80-meter transparent acrylic tunnel displaying over 2,500 sea creatures in close proximity.

Take a break from the marine delights by viewing the Images of Singapore, featuring life-sized figures, animatronics and special effects that tell the colorful history and heritage of Singapore. After dinner, watch a Musical Fountain light show, a dramatic display of lasers, computer graphics, water jets and flames.  Visitors may also want to consider the Cineblast , a 4D cinematic simulation ride you can enjoy before the Musical Fountain show.
